First Blog!

As I lay here in my bed on my left side as the doctors recommend, there isn't much else to do. Time for a blog! These past few months have been so full of joy for Stephen and I, it is hardly worth complaining that the final bit of my pregnancy will be spent in bed. At 33 weeks I went into the hospital with high blood pressure and was officially diagnosed with preeclampsia. Thankfully, we were sent home the next day with instructions to take it easy instead of being kept there for the remainder of my pregnancy. My condition is mild, but being monitored very closely and I have faith that the Lord will get us through and our little boy will be born happy and healthy!
Prior to this drama, this year has been truly the most exciting and blessed year of our lives together! Stephen and I found out in November that we would be expecting a little one, right in time to tell our family while we were visiting for Thanksgiving. Time sure has flown by since then! Winter in Huntington, WV was rough with a lot more snow than this Carolina girl is used to. Wouldn't be too bad if our driveway didn't remind us of Mt. Everest. For two weeks this past winter we hiked up and down, unable to drive our cars to the top! That was an adventure for sure!
Spring came quickly though and the beautiful weather was much anticipated! Huntington does two seasons very well... Spring, and Fall. The spring is mild and there always seems to be a breeze. Flowers bloom here seemingly at all different times so there is always something new to look at. I "bloomed" along with the flowers this year, finally getting that baby bump to prove to everyone I was indeed expecting, not just eating too much McDonald's ;-)
I was busy getting ready for our son and Stephen stayed busy with his clerkship rotations. He completed OB, then Psychology, then Internal Medicine. Now he is officially a fourth year Medical student! We are very much looking forward to this year. Fourth year means elective classes that Stephen actually wants to take, and the very exciting task of finding a residency program.
We are now taking it easy until we meet our baby boy! Stephen has taken over all of my "housewife" duties with a genuine smile on his face, never complaining even though he really doesn't think the carpet needs to be vacuumed every day! He makes me lay down when I've been up for too long and takes my blood pressure several times a day. If this scary time is doing anything for good, surely it is to strengthen our marriage. We keep each other rooted in our faith, something I can't be thankful enough for. God is working in everything!
We will keep updating!
