Overcoming our fears... and Happy Valentines

Hey all!
This month has flown by so far! I can't believe it's already Valentine's day! This year is pretty low key. Stephen gets a free pass on romance this year... intern year is rough enough without having to remember to get your wife flowers!! I just think of it as my year to treat him! I'm making him his favorite dinner, and I have a nice bottle of wine. He's been working 7-7:30 every day so it's been a little rough. Especially since David hasn't gotten to see him much. Today, David got up at 6 so they got to see each other for about 15 min. David was so excited to see Stephen that he grabbed onto him and just put his head on his shoulder for a long time. I just love how much David loves his Daddy! Those two are best buds.
So, in David news... he is no longer afraid of the slide!! We've been dealing with a new developmental milestone that isn't as fun as learning to walk and talk... I'm talking about fears. He's no scaredy cat, but David is learning how to be afraid of things. It can be the most random things from a loud noise, to something scary on TV... but most of all it was the slide. That evil, contraption at every park that he was deathly afraid of. Probably because the first day I tried him on the slide, I did this:

Yeah, I took the sink or swim approach, with my good friend standing at the bottom, snapping pictures. After that he wouldn't go near the slide. It was a shame too because our neighborhood park only has big kid swings and a slide. SO, yesterday I decided I'd help David get over his fears. I put him on the top of the slide held his hand as he went down and cheered and clapped for my little man as if he had just run a marathon!! He was happy he lived, but still not so sure about the slide. I did it again and again until the "slide of death" became fun. THEN he decided it was so much fun, he climbed those steps and slid down the slide about 50 times. GO BIG BOY!!

OK, Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Hope you are getting to spend it with those you love.
