A while back I blogged about my new found love of yard sales. I seriously look forward to them every week. It isn't at obsession level or anything, but I do love getting a good deal! The past few weeks I've gotten some great stuff! Stephen has a love/hate opinion on yard sales. Saving money is good in his opinion and he loves getting stuff we need for a good deal, but some of the things I've found, he just sees as junk that takes up more space in our already small house. Haha. I joke with him that it'll just be stuff we can get rid of when we have a yard sale!! Some of my recent steals:
A TV for our room. It has VHS and DVD right in the TV. Love this because now I can find all kinds of cheep VHS movies (especially kids movies) at yard sales! So far we have Winnie the Poohs Grand Adventure, Pinocchio, Homeward Bound the Incredible Journey, Fox and the Hound, and many more (you get the picture). I get the movies for about 50 cents each, and the TV was $10.
Bissel Quick Steam Carpet Cleaner- This thing works GREAT! Its going to become part of my weekly cleaning routine for sure. It quickly needs refilling of the clean water tank but thats ok, it works! I got the machine and a bottle of cleaner for $7!!
Sunbeam Bread Machine- I was really excited about this. I payed $4 for it! Thats less than a loaf of bread! I've used it twice, and now its on the utility shelf in the laundry room... Stephen sort of called that one. I'm sure I'll bring it out again on holidays and when I'm feeling "Betty Crockeresque"
Automatic Crockpot- I LOVE to cook with my crockpot. I had a very basic crockpot for our wedding and I loved it. It was kind of small though and didn't have any shut off capabilities. This one is awesome I can set it to cook for exactly 8 hours (or whatever I need it to do) and then it switches to warm. It is also a little bigger than my old one so it was worth the $5 I payed for it!!
Please disregard the messy living room. We had just gotten home from our yard saleing adventures. This is a Thomas the Train toy that is cool. $1
Some Elmo swim trunks- Free, some lady just wanted to get rid of stuff.
These are the cutest things. Real, official Toy Story action figures (David loves Toy Story) $1 each and I actually got them at different yard sales which cracks me up.
Little People complete farm set!! Retails for around $40, I got it for $2!!! The only piece missing is the farmer. Oh well! D loves this thing!! So fun!
There's lots more. My favorite purchase is still my BOB Stroller. I'm on the hunt for a Red Rider Tricycle for D's 2nd birthday, and maybe a little indoor slide. The down side, it is SO hard for me to buy anything (especially kids stuff) at a retail store now that I know what I can get it for at a yard sale. I'm also a big haggler. I get peeved at people for asking way too much and I haggle with them like no other. LOL Now, if it is a yard sale for charity or an adoption, I pay asking price, but just some guy trying to get rid of junk from his house... I don't think so. If you are asking $15 I'm gonna offer $5, and thats if I really want it. I even have handed the money out as I'm offering it (I did that w/ the crockpot the lady was asking $10). Its kind of a rush! I mean when else can you do that? Anyway, I can feel my "crazy light" blinking so don't judge me too harshly ya'll. We all have our "quirks." :-)
Off to clean up before D gets up from nap. Have a fantastic week!

You are my hero!! I love all these good deals.
